The Healing Touch : A Lifetime of Connection with Animals

For as long as I have been with the NFSH/THT, that’s from 1997-ish, it has always been understood that the qualifying certificate covered the healer for animals as well as humans.

I have been an animal healer since childhood. Laying my hands on my own pets and asking Jesus to heal them was a natural act of love.

Since qualifying with the NFSH in 1998 my experience is mainly with pets and wild animals. I have never worked with horses or farm animals which a general ‘animal healing’ certificate would need to include. Plus, there are the marine animals as well, dolphins etc. Plus zoos, wildlife parks etc.

Working with animals is very, very rewarding. Cats, in particular recognize the energy and many a cat has jumped onto my lap to sit between my hands, they know where the energy is!

I have so many wonderful stories that would make this email too long. I will just mention Gerald, an enormous German Shepherd, aging and very poorly, who sat behind a settee for about 20 minutes before finally deciding I might be able to help him. He crept out, totally smothered my feet and put his head on my knee. It was over an hour before he allowed me to leave. Human patience is vital in animal healing! Diary commitments go out of the window!

I have a lifetime of stories. Some of my greatest joys include channelling healing to a fox I found laying by the roadside. He appeared to be dazed; I sat with him for quite a while with hands deep in his fur as I channelled and in due course he stood up and before running off he thanked me by touching my hand with his paw. It was a fantastic moment that brought tears to my eyes.

Then there was a hedgehog, wandering down the kerb of a busy main road in suburban London. I took her home, a vet informed that she had been blinded, probably sprayed with agricultural chemicals by a farmer who didn't know she was there. Goodness knows how many miles she must have walked. She lived in our large-ish enclosed front garden and I channelled regular healing to her. I learnt how to pick her up, she never struggled, never raised her spines, never rolled up into a ball as they do when they are frightened. Come October she tried, unsuccessfully to make herself somewhere to hibernate. My husband built her a safe, snug, warm place and she immediately settled down.

During this time I sent her distant healing. She emerged stronger in the Spring, stopped bumping into things, her sight had obviously improved. She started looking for holes in the fence so she could continue her travels. It was time for her to leave us. We took her into deeper Surrey and set her free in a woodland. She scampered off.

Also, a deer in a London Royal Park who had collapsed, there were wounds on his sides, I assumed he had been fighting. I sat by him, channelling healing which kept him calm. That and soothing words were all I could give but his beautiful eyes looking into mine as he died, with his head on my knee, will be with me forever.

All animal healers will have similar experiences as mine. I spend a lot of time these days in the deep countryside of the SW, my life is full of wild and domestic animals and the experiences continue.

Animal healing becomes a way of life. My experience is that to be a good animal healer you have to genuinely love animals and feel you have a natural deep bond with them. They can sense if you don’t.

More often than not there is no payment, that comes in the shape of the blessings the animals give you; it is a two-way thing.
